A frayed or snapped lift cable throws the whole door off balance, and a door hanging crooked on one cable is a genuine safety hazard. We replace cables and inspect the drums they wind onto.
When one lift cable fails, the other has seen the same wear cycle. We replace both to prevent a repeat call.
A cable can slip its groove repeatedly if the drum itself is damaged, which we check before calling the job done.
Lift cables connect directly to spring-loaded drums, so replacement requires the same careful tension handling as spring work.
A same-day fix is standard for cable failures, parts already on the truck.
Each service below is handled by a technician trained specifically for this kind of repair, not a generalist guessing at it.
A snapped cable leaves the door hanging unevenly on the remaining side, an unsafe condition we treat as priority.
Catching a fraying cable early avoids the sudden, uneven drop that comes with a full snap.
If the cable keeps slipping off the drum, we look for a bent drum or misaligned track causing the repeat issue.
Worn or cracked cable drums get replaced alongside the cable itself, since a damaged drum will fray the next cable too.
A door hanging crooked usually means one cable or spring has failed while the other holds. We correct both the immediate hazard and the root cause.
Tell us if the door is hanging crooked or jammed, that detail helps us prioritize the call correctly.
Technicians carry standard cable gauges and lengths for most residential doors.
We check both cables and the drums together, then quote a flat price covering the full fix.
We verify the door hangs and travels evenly before calling the repair complete.
“Door was hanging at an angle after a cable snapped. They replaced both cables and it's perfectly level now.”
“Caught the fraying cable during a routine call before it actually snapped. Appreciated the heads-up.”
“Same-day fix on a Saturday, cable stock right there on the truck.”
An uneven hang points to a broken cable, a failed spring, or a bent track pulling the panel off-square.
We recommend replacing both since they wear on the same cycle, and we'll explain the reasoning before you decide.
This is a genuine safety hazard, especially with people or vehicles near the door opening.
Repeated slipping points to a drum issue rather than just the cable itself, which we'll inspect.
Cost varies with door size and whether one or both cables and drums need attention.
Most cable replacements are completed same-day, typically within one to two hours once the technician arrives.
